In the study, it was determined that the patch worked better than the placebo. I could not, however, find if the study was ever done for TMJ disorders.
Mintiva is another product out there. Can't really see what's in it, but it is to temporary relieve minor pain arthritis, simple backache, muscle strains, sprains, bruises and cramps. Don't quite understand the cramps as it may cause nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. I guess you are supposed to massage it on the area of cramps.

A product sold in Hong Kong called Ping On relied on a study that indicated that the local massage of topical Chinese analgesic ointment was effective in treatment of TMJ muscle pain. Ping On is an alternative herbal ointment which significantly reduced the symptoms of painful TMJs and/or masticatory muscles.
