There are several medical symptoms caused by Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected Blacklegged tick. Even your face and mouth can be effected by this disease.
A face bite may affect masticatory organ
The rash, called erythema migrans, may be solid red, form a ring or multiple rings called a "bulls-eye" appearance, reported by the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. The tick can bite a person on the face, causing a ring on the face, but also the masticatory organ can also be affected. The masticatory organ consists of teeth, mandibular joints and chewing muscles, noted by the Institute of Craniomandibular Dysfunction.
Multiorgan clinical manifestations of borreliosis might occur in the masticatory organ and this fact should be taken into consideration in the differential diagnosis of pain by medical and dental practitioners, according to the Chair and Department of Conservative Dentistry, Medical University of Lublin, Poland.
Early treatment typically consists of orally administered antibiotics, like Tetracycline given to adults or Penicillin given to children. Although, even with treatment, symptoms may persist for some time and a full recovery is not always possible.
So, before you get bitten by a (possible) Lyme tick, there are products that protect you from the ticks.
Works all day!
