Should You Use Laser Treatment to Cure Herpes?

A very common viral infection for people is the herpes simplex virus (HSV).  There are eight different herpes viruses that can infect people.  Usually viruses only infect one particular type of cell.

Two human herpes viruses are categorized into the herpes simplex virus.
  • type 1 (HSV-1) or oral herpes.  HSV-1 is the usual cause of cold sores on the lips
  • herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) or genital herpes

Herpes Virus type 3 is the varicella-zoster virus, is the same virus which causes chickenpox.   Shingles, which is a reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus.

All of these herpes viruses cause infections that produce blisters on the skin or mucus membranes and the herpes simplex virus infection can cause recurring episodes of small, painful, fluid-filled blisters on the skin, mouth, lips, eyes, or genitals.

Herpes Virus type 4 is Epstein-Barr virus, causes infectious mononucleosis. Cytomegalovirus, herpes virus ;type 5, is a cause of serious infections in newborns and in people with a weakened immune system.  It can also produce symptoms similar to infectious mononucleosis in people with a healthy immune system.  Herpes viruses 6 and 7 cause a childhood infection called roseola infantum.  Herpes virus 8 has been implicated as a cause of cancer (Kaposi's sarcoma) in people with AIDS.

At the Center of Research, Teaching and Clinics of Lasers in Dentistry at the University of São Paulo, a number of studies treating HSV-1 with lasers has been done.  A patient with severe oral HSV-1 infection in the lower lip was treated with both low and high density lasers.  Pain sensitivity was completely gone after the first irradiation with the low-intensity laser and these lesions were completely healed within 10 days.  The best is that NO topical anesthetic is needed with laser treatment.

Treatment with low-level laser therapy can be considered as an option in the treatment of herpes labialis, and decreases the frequency of vesicle recurrence and provides comfort for patients, according to a study in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of São Paulo.

If you want to try a home remedy to cure your herpes before you go to the doctor, Lipzor Light Device for Cold Sores and Herpes is good for initial treatment on cold sores and herpes.  It is the healing power of infrared light,  it's an invisible band of light at a wavelength of 1072nm (nanometers).

Another product Johnson Compeed Cold Sore Patches, which is an invisible patch medicated with a patent ultra thin hydrocolloid-075, rather than a lazer.  The Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark confirmed in a study that the Compeed Cold Sore Patch using hydrocolloid technology provides an efficacious and safe alternative to topical antivirals in treating herpes simplex labialis as a wound while affording additional immediate benefits of wound protection, discretion and relief of social embarrassment.
