Methamphetamine, or meth, is stimulant drug in which a strong form of the drug is illegally sold on the streets. This white, crystal powder can be snorted up the nose, smoked, swallowed, taken rectally or dissolved and injected into a vein. Symptoms include increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, large wide pupils and a general feeling of wellness or rush, according to A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia.
Meth users have endless energy
Besides users of meth reporting an initial powerful and confident feeling, they also have endless energy, increased productivity, enhanced sexual performance and reduced appetite. Also dental problems occur.
Meth has been highly seen among HIV-positive adults, but it is also becoming popular with teenagers. A number of Universities with Schools of Public Health have reported that individuals who are HIV-positive with a history of meth use experience access barriers to oral health care and more dental problems.
Meth users have rapidly occurring dental decay
The dental decay problems happen rapidly and the whole mouth becomes infected. There is even a name for someone with dental problems occurring from meth, and yes, that is "meth mouth." Dental or oral disease was one of the most prevalent medical cormorbidities in methampetamine users who otherwise were generally healthy, according to the School of Dentistry at the University of California.
According to the United States Department of Justice, children living at methamphetamine laboratories are at increased risk for severe neglect and are more likely to be physically and sexually abused by members of their own family and known individuals at the site.
